Mathmos is a British lighting brand that established success in the ‘90s selling the 1960s classic Lava lamp. The Covent Garden boutique was Mathmos’ first foray into selling directly to the public and was designed to market an expanding lighting range that the company had established by 2003.
We were appointed to transform an empty lock-up shop unit in the heart of Covent Garden’s Seven Dials area, as a prototype retail outlet, lit entirely by Mathmos products.
The shop front was covered by a large cut out graphic, giving discrete views into a darkened interior kitted out with modular display and storage units.
Following the success of the store, Mathmos Lighting Co. invited us to design a portable exhibition, to showcase the work of the company at a series of trade shows in New York, Paris, Berlin and London.
