Crumbles Castle was constructed in 1972 by Architecture Students, from the remains of a local housing estate. The building provides essential play space for children aged 6-14.

We have submitted a planning application to transform a neglected corner of the site into a dedicated workspace, attached to the main building.

This will create an area where children can focus on project work away from the hurly-burly of the main building.

It will be a lightweight timber addition, and will be built by volunteers and the children themselves. Externally we have continued the fortification ‘theme’ and created a defensible building based on a pill-box.

The cladding will be an updated, more precise version of the existing rubble walled building. The dry stone walling will be set into a galvanised steel grid and the whole thing will be set off with a bramble and wildflower roof.

Construction anticipated summer 2013.

CTA were selected to work with American Men’s fashion brand Jack Spade as part of the RIBA Regent Street Windows programme 2013.

We were very taken by the collection of Americana that are housed alongside the for-sale-items in the Jack Spade Store. Our project continues this curatorial approach layering sampled NYC architectural motifs throughout the store.
