Camberwell Coach House

CTA has gained planning permission to replace the former Mayor’s Garage in Camberwell with a new 2-storey family home. The proposed building responds to its context on the edge of the Sceaux Gardens Conservation Area.

The scheme proposes a simple timber structure that is clad with slatted timber façade in order to minimise the impact on the surroundings. A brick wall up to first floor forms the boundary with Lucas Gardens, an adjacent public park.

The scale and design of the proposal is influenced by its position amongst a collection of building forms and scales and our proposal will be in keeping with the proportion and detail of the neighboring industrial buildings and residential buildings surrounding the park. Accommodation includes bedrooms on the ground floor, with a generous open plan living space and terrace on the first.

The project is currently at tender stage and is due to start on-site in November 2017.
